Why did you decide
to enrol on the course? I had quite a lot of time on my hands for the first time in ages and wanted to do something interesting, different and potentially useful. I have worked for many years as a Book editor but taken the last few years off to look after my three children, all of whom are now in full-time school. I would like to go back to work soon - preferably on a part-time/freelance basis - so this sort of course could prove useful. Did you make any contact with the Institute before enrolling? No. What was your impression of your course when it arrived? I wondered what on earth I had got myself into but was comforted that it had arrived and looked professional, well organized and legitimate. Did you consider any other courses? I had visited a few websites for other correspondence courses. Ultimately, what do you want to do? Possibly set up as a freelance copywriter or editor. Or find a job in the business. Whatever I do, I'm sure that having done the course will be an asset. How are you progressing with your course? Fine. I started in March and am now on Module 8. What might you say to someone who was thinking of enrolling on the course? Take each module one at a time. Set aside a fixed time each day/week to study. Is there anything else
you’d like to add? Each assignment is suprisingly do-able once you have worked your way through the module. I have enjoyed doing most of them - though some are much more fun than others. My tutor is very good. He sends his comments back almost immediately and they are very useful. |
