Why did you decide to enrol on the course?

Writing has been something I've enjoyed since childhood. Enjoyment doesn't pay the bills as an adult though.

The opportunities in copywriting are endless. The Institute's website convinced me that this was the most comprehensive course of all. I was confident that each module would turn me into a better writer - and a richer one.

Did you make any contact with the Institute before enrolling?

The Institute sent a prospectus at my request. It gave me an indication of what was included in each module, as well as a list of reasons why copywriting can be a challenging and lucrative career.

What was your impression of your course when it arrived?

It was good to see that the whole course came in one package. I was able to see what work I was about to embark on. I was impressed by the way the modules were laid out. Every aspect of copywriting is covered, along with a section on marketing. This has proved a great help with finding clients.

Did you consider any other courses?

There are a number of copywriting courses available. To my mind, the Institute provided the most comprehensive of all. The course is not easy, but the rewards are there for students who want to do well.

Ultimately, what do you want to do?

I have considered most aspects of writing, from journalism to screenwriting. So, it seems, have every other writer out there. Since the completion of the course, I am adamant that the only working life I want is as a full-time copywriter. The work is something I enjoy, and the rewards are excellent for people who have the courage to stick at it.

There are not many copywriters to compete with either. My local telephone directory lists not one copywriter - It will do in its next edition - Me!

What might you say to someone who was thinking of enrolling on the course?

Go for it! The course will turn you into a better writer. There's no pressure to work to a deadline. It's all done at your pace. Ask for the Institute's prospectus. It will allow you to what each of the modules contain. I can guarantee a wonderful feeling when you have completed the course. You will be content in the knowledge that you have covered every aspect of the copywriter's job.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

Don't enroll if you want an easy time of it. My tutor was quick to praise a lot of my work - he was just as quick to point out anything I was doing wrong. I have done writing courses in the past where the tutor hailed everything I wrote as a potential masterpiece. All very nice - but I learnt nothing. There is a much greater sense of satisfaction when you complete a course where you have really had to think about what you're doing in order to gain a good grade. Now, when I start to write, I wonder what my tutor at the Institute would have to say about my work. That ensures a good standard of copy is sent to my client.
