Rosalind Cogavin, Hague, Netherlands

Back to the list

Why did you decide to enrol on the course?

Because I wanted to change career direction and learn how to write copy but I wasn't able to commit full time or do a course here in the Netherlands. I like choosing my hours of study so this online course suits me very well.

Did you make any contact with the Institute before enrolling?

No.

What was your impression of your course when it arrived?

It arrived very soon after ordering and everything seemed well thought out so I felt I was with a professional organisation. Flicking through the modules, the work didn't seem too overwhelming either.

Did you consider any other courses?

I did look at other online courses but they were either very expensive, based in America or too full of hype. I liked the institute's approach best.

Ultimately, what do you want to do?

I want to work freelance for advertising agencies, for small business websites (I make small websites too) and I'd like to write and sell features but I am studying this separately. I'm interested in anything that will give me the chance to build up my writing skills. I'm open to everything at this early stage.

How are you progressing with your course?

Slowly. I'm taking my time to think about it properly. I'm becoming more aware of advertising, direct mail and brochure copy in general and appreicate the skills needed to write good copy - something I wasn't aware of before.

What might you say to someone who was thinking of enrolling on the course?

Go for it! You've got everything to gain. It's quite challenging but the learning curve is enlightening.

Is there anything you'd like to ad?

No.
