| Case Studies - Diploma in Event
Planning |
Maxine Bates, Nottingham, UK
Why did you enrol on the course?
Having been made redundant I decided to make event planning my new
career as I've organised events on a voluntary basis for British
Mensa for over a decade and greatly enjoy the challenge.
Did you make any contact with the Institute before enrolling?
No, I just enrolled online.
What was your impression of the course when it arrived?
It arrived promptly within 48 hours. The coursework was very well
presented in a folder with some nice extras like notebooks, highlighter
pen, clipboard, CD and even mints.
Did you consider any other courses?
I did look for other courses on the internet
but didn't find any near as good in terms of course content and
value for money.
Ultimately, what do you want to do?
I am now running my own business called Maruba
Events specialising in themed parties and dinners but also offering
wedding planning and conference organisation.
What might you say to someone who was thinking of enrolling on the course?
It's great! There are no exams to sit nor deadlines to meet but
be prepared to spend many hours researching venues, caterers, entertainers,
etc, and neatly presenting your findings. My tutor Jehane was very
helpful.
