Case Studies - Diploma in Event Planning

Lynsey Pledger, London

Why did you enrol on the course?

I was looking for something to do outside of work, which would not only give me something to do, and stretch myself, but also enhance my career prospects. I am already doing some event management, and I thought this would be a perfect start to changing my career.

Did you make any contact with the Institute before enrolling?

No, I thought about it for a long time, but went ahead without speaking to anyone.

What was your impression of the course when it arrived?

It arrived quickly, and there seemed to be a great deal of course material, all well presented, and all looked very encouraging!!

Did you consider any other courses?

Having enroled in the course, I then looked at the other courses available. There are a number I may well look at in the future, having finished this one.

Ultimately, what do you want to do?

Work in Event Planning. It would be wonderful to have my own company, but if not, this gives me the means to improve my CV and work in the Event Planning industry.

How are you progressing with your course?

Well. I can work at my own speed, and during the last couple of months, when my life has become a bit hectic, I have been able to put it on the backburner. Now things are quieter, I'm working on it again with added effort!

What might you say to someone who was thinking of enrolling on the course?

Do it, as long as you're committed to the end result. Don't worry about the standard of learning. If you want it. Go for it.
