I love gardening and know a bit about plants but I am very hazy about the principles of design and wanted to broaden my understanding.
I haven't studied for about thirty years but there's so much that is practical in the course it doesn't feel like dry academic learning.
Did you make any contact with the Institute before enrolling?
Only through the website.
What was your impression of the course when it arrived?
It looked interesting, challenging but not too daunting.
Did you consider any other courses?
I looked at several websites which offered distance learning. Some seemed rather long, and consequently more expensive. I rather liked the international dimension to this course.
Ultimately, what do you want to do?
I work part time as a teacher but no job is secure and this might turn out to be an alternative source of work if I feel I can do it at the end of the course!
How are you progressing with your course?
It was easy to keep to my self imposed timetable during the winter but now that the nights are light, the demands of my garden and allotment mean I am finding it hard to keep to an assignmemt a month as I would like to do.
What might you say to someone who was thinking of enrolling on the course?
Why not? If you are interested, I am sure you will get a lot out of it.
