A pal of mine jokingly said that I should, so I thought why not. I love gardening, would like a change of career and to work for myself.
My garden is also a nightmare and I thought I may as well pay myself to redesign it, get the satisfaction and learn at the samer time as to pay someone else the same sort of money and not get any added value (good buzz words, eh!)
Did you make any contact with the Institute before enrolling?
Yes, I had a few questions that i put to the Institute, which were helpfully replied.
What was your impression of the course when it arrived?
Great excitement. I thought I would read it all through first but didn't.
Did you consider any other courses?
Yes, I lookd at several including Regency and RHS. RHS was really outside my budget, but the Institute offered me more of what I wanted.
Ultimately, what do you want to do?
I would love to be a sucessful garden designer and consultant Write gardening books Produce my own home made, home grown chutneys, jams and preserves.
What might you say to someone who was thinking of enrolling on the course?
Go for it! Check you'll get what you want out of it in the end, it's a lot of money if you're going to start and not reach your goal. For busy, working people who don't think they'll have time, I have found I have been able to fit it around my everyday life. (I hold down a full time office job and have a house and family.) I've enjoyed it so much, I've made the time.
