I work with individuals and couples in the Suffolk, Essex, Cambridgeshire borders. This central location means the practice is easily accessible from Haverhill, Cambridge, Bury St Edmunds, Sudbury, Newmarket, Saffron Walden, Duxford, and the surrounding villages. I am a qualified counsellor and offer people Support through short-term focused counselling sessions and longer-term psychotherapy. I also offer student placement support and self-development counselling for those working towards becoming a counsellor themselves. I work from an Integrative theoretical core model. I believe that this offers me the greatest opportunity to create and maintain a working therapeutic relationship combining the skills I have learned, theoretical concepts that help me understand my work and my own self-awareness, gained through my own personal therapy. Central to my work is my belief that individuals display self-actualising tendencies, that everyone, one way or another is drawn towards improving, as they see it, their lives. That given the right circumstances people naturally know what is best for them and are inclined towards good mental health. My rational includes giving my clients autonomy, empowerment, individuality, empathy, respect and working with beneficence and non-maleficence as laid down by @07 code of ethics. I also try to always be aware of social and cultural differences and how these impact the working relationship.
