What is Screenwriting?

Let's start with the basics. What exactly is screenwriting?

Screenwriting involves writing the story that will be used in a film or television show etc.

Whenever a production company produces a film, it needs a screenwriter.

What does a screenwriter do?

A screenwriter prepares many aspects of a film. They create a plot and characters, and write the dialogue. They work on setting the sceen and understand the need for backstory so that the film and its characters are believable.

A screenwriter is unlikely to get their film commissioned after writing one draft, so they have to be skilled at redrafting.

And because screenwriting is a highly creative task, screenwriters have to be always seeking new sources of inspiration.
