In operation since 1998, the Institute serves the needs of people who are or who want to become teaching assistants.
The Institute’s Tutors are full-time teaching assistants, who bring their on-the-job experience to the course. You'll get advice directly from active practitioners - not armchair theorists.
The Institute is wholly financed by its members, from its courses and subscriptions, from lectures and published material. It brings together all kinds of teaching assistants, novices and long-standing experts alike.
Accreditation
We're accredited by the Open and Distance Learning Quality Council (ODLQC).
Set up by the government in 1968, the ODLQC is one of the prime accreditation bodies for distance learning courses.
To achieve accreditation, we undergo a rigorous and continuous assessment, by independent experts, of all aspects of our work, including administration, learner support, educational materials, and publicity. And because we're regularly inspected, we have to we have to work hard to maintain quality to keep that accreditation.
We're also accredited by the Better Business Bureau, and by Public Eye.

ASET Level 3 Accreditation
Our course is fully accredited by ASET, and on completing it you get a national award equivalent to Level 3 of the National Learning Framework (A level standard). ASET is a national Awarding Body recognised by the Department for Education and Skills and by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority in Britain. It has been accrediting vocational learning for more than 50 years and now works with more than 200 providers in the UK and internationally.
