Why did you decide to enrol on the course? Technical writing is a relatively new field. No formal course that can lead up to a 'Diploma' is currently available in India. The technical writing course offered by the Institute of Technical Writing was of particular interest to me. The course covers a wide range of topics that are normally encountered in Technical Communication Practice. Also, there is a great demand for technical writers worldwide. Did you make any contact with the Institute before enrolling? Yes. I wanted to get some details before enrolling. I was given all the information required promptly, whenever I made contacts. What was your impression of your course when it arrived? The package arrived in excellent condition. In fact I was excited. I was about to start on a course that was meant to shape my career in a new field. Studying, I felt that I was sitting in a classroom right in Wedmore, participating and interacting face-to-face with the revered teacher together with other students. It was an online course, but it succeeded in creating a classroom atmosphere - live - though I was away half the way across the globe. The course covers a wide range of topics, but the material has been presented in a practical manner. Wherever necessary examples are given, and where appropriate readers are directed to relevant reference material and Internet. The assignments require studying subjects as diverse as medicine, nutrition, engineering, business and advertising - a strategy that allows students to choose questions of personal interest. It created the right impression in my mind. I was very happy with the course I had chosen to study. Did you consider any other courses? No. Ultimately, what do you want to do? I would like to get into a job as a Technical Writer, at least for some time. Depending on my performance I might consider working as a full time technical writing consultant, a freelance writer. What might you say to someone who was thinking of enrolling on the course? Technical writing is an exciting field. It makes good business sense investing on the course offered by 'The Institute of Technical Writing'. "You gain cutting-edge knowledge on today's hot topics. And you get to solve practical problems encountered in current technical communication practice".
