Is there much competition?

The great news is, the popularity of yoga has increased dramatically over the last ten years. There are yoga courses in demand in gyms, health clubs and community centres worldwide.

Almost every place of exercise that you walk into these days offers some kind of yoga class, be it beginners, intermediate or advanced, with many establishments now offering pregnancy, seniors and children’s yoga classes.

If you check the newspaper, job boards or online resources there are a constant stream of advertisements for yoga instructors as this demand grows: Competition is minimum as the demand factor is so high, with many yoga instructors finding themselves in situations where they have to provide extra classes and even turn students away due to high class numbers.

Once the majority of students find an instructor they are happy with, they stay with that class for years to come, often bringing with them friends and family members, and using positive word of mouth to swell class sizes.

That means the amount of competition is negligible, with the demand set to continue for the foreseeable future as the trend of taking yoga classes increases.

Yoga teachers are in demand

Many yoga instructors find that they have to put limits on the amount of students they allow into their classes - in order to maintain the correct balance between a group class and being able to monitor individuals.

This means, however, that you can offer the same class two, three and sometimes four times a week.

The majority of class students will sign up for a course of classes, guaranteeing you income for 8-10 week periods of time, and allowing them to base the rest of their business around their classes. Instructors do have to take care to protect their own health as fatigue can be a factor in a practice that is so much in demand.

The only complaint amongst most yoga instructors is that they have too much work! From a business and income standpoint is a great situation to be in. Interested in registering? Click here.
