One of my Dad’s favourite sayings is ‘You are never too old to learn.’ I was thrilled to be asked to review a course run by the Blackford Learning Centre.
The Course I chose to do was the Online Writing Course. Being a Blogger and Reviewer, I am hoping this will give me some additional ideas and strategies to use in my writing.
Firstly, a bit about The Blackford Learning Centre.
The Centre helps people to set up their own home based business. They have offices all over the world. The courses are support by web based information and learners can chat with each other. Students get advice from active experts and all tutors are full-time practitioners.
The courses are varied and cater for many tastes. There are no exams but positive assessment is used instead. This makes it a lot easier for people with exam anxiety to complete these courses as there is less stress. The courses can be completed to your own time schedule. You do get a qualification at the end which can help you to move onto a new career path or expand the knowledge you presently have in your chosen job.
During each course you will have your own Tutor. I think this is a great way to learn.
Online Writing Course
So far I have reach part 4 on my Online Writing Course and I am really enjoying it.
I did not have the hard copy with my course as this is online, but I can imagine that receiving the box with your course paperwork in it, would be am amazing experience. I can, however, download and print the paperwork I need. It is useful to have a hard copy so that you can jot down notes, highlight important points, put down your own ideas etc.
The first part of my course was an Introduction. It explained everything about what would be ahead, what I would be learning, was was expected of me. Clear and concise, easy to understand. Following the introduction will be 14 modules.
Each Module has its own heading and again is split into understandable sections.
During each module there are activities which you complete, with some being ideas, some research, and some questions to answer. This is an example of one exercise in Module 1.
The Blackford Learning Centre has made their courses accessible to everyone and they are completed by people Worldwide. If you do not want to email assessments then you can send a paper copy.
At the end of each module is a reminder of the exercises/activities that you should have completed, and also a summary of what you have learnt during that module.
So far, I am loving doing this course and it is teaching me how, when i have completed it, I can go ahead and make a career out of something I really enjoy doing – Writing.
